MOVIE POSTER PROJECT
Create an 8 inch by 10 inch document in Photoshop. Create a movie poster “spinoff” starring YOU!
Create a new folder in your DD1/projects folder called Movie Poster and save everything for this project there.
Required photos:
At least two images obtained from the Internet(you will be required to provide the exact link to where you found the photo)
At least one photograph of you incorporated into your poster.
You select your own poster, but it must include “advanced features” and require some thought to recreate. For example, the Braveheart poster would be just fine; it has several elements to it and the potential to use multiple layers. The Drillbit Taylor poster would not be ok; it’s too easy, basic, simple. Find something HARD!! Yours does not have to be an exact replica, but it does need to have features and be set up like the original (your photos may be of different things). I encourage you to spoof (make fun of) the movie, though (think Scary Movie).
Part 1
Locate two potential movie posters you think would be good to recreate. Copy and paste them into a Word document and include the URL that I can visit to find the image. Two great sources to look for movie posters are: http://www.movieposter.com/http://www.impawards.com/
Part2
Gather images that you think you are going to need to create your movie poster.
FONTS
What FONTS would you like to use? Visit http://www.dafont.com and look through the fonts and get some ideas. If you find a font that you would like to use or need to make your poster look authentic click the download button and save that file in the folder for this project. If you know how to install the font to the computer go ahead, if you need help ask for it.
Part 3
Create your project! Set up as follows:
NOTE: You are not going to simply take a copy of the movie poster you are trying to recreate, stick your face on one of the characters and call it done. Any attempts to do this will result in a zero for the assignment.
This step will take some time; make sure that every addition you make to your poster is on a new layer, this will help you immensely. I want to see usage of techniques and the sharing of ideas, you are going to attempt to make this as “real looking” as possible and not just throw something together. Show effort!!
When your final product is complete, save it in the Movie Poster folder as “lastname-movieposter.jpg” and Turn it in via Edmodo.
MOVIE POSTER PROJECT—SCORING GUIDE
Use this as a guide while you work. Remember, your project should demonstrate your proficiency with Photoshop. If there is something you do not know how to do, ask and I will try to guide you to a solution, direct you to a tutorial on a website that can assist you or you can Google the idea yourself.
